See All ReviewsUsed to be good but not anymore. Rice-Tasted old and was just warm. Salad-Was like soup 2 out of 3 sushi rolls were wrong. Soup-only broth with no tofu or seaweed Food-In general was mediocre Staff was in no rush to serve us and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Gratuity- Automatically added into the bill....not cool. Everything felt wrong about our meal and we left with $100 less in our pockets Lesson learned.....going to another restuarant next time. Don't eat at this restaurant! DON'T DO IT.TRY ANOTHER
This was our first time at Genji. There were a few hits and misses. Loved the miso soup, the salad with carrot ginger dressing was something I had never tasted before, loved it. But there was also some confusion, the hibachi chef who was supposed to come to our table was sent to the adjacent, due to which everyone at our table had to keep waiting and that caused some delay. (Almost an hour) Although, I must mention, our attendant was a very attentive and a lovely person, she kept apologizing for the inconvenience, which is fine, as this was no fault of hers. I had the Saginaw signature sushi roll, I perhaps would have enjoyed it more had it been done differently. The shrimp was undercooked and gave away the dish for me, I had asked our server if the shrimp would be raw or cooked, and I was told it would be cooked. On the up side, my husband enjoyed his hibachi grill. Since there were only 5 people at our table, the chef seemed to be in a rush, no fancy tricks or funny banter for us :( was really kinda looking forward to it as that kind of encompasses the whole hibachi experience. We ended with their dessert which was like a mixed sorbet of sorts, I liked it.
The staff was great. Chef was awesome. Good was tasty. A little pricey. They factor the tip into your bill before they bring it. I don't care for that.
